His future was open for a long time, now the World Automobile Association has officially confirmed that former Formula 1 race director Michael Masi is no longer part of the FIA. The separation was announced in a brief statement on Tuesday afternoon.
“The FIA confirms that Michael Masi has decided to leave the FIA and move back to Australia to be closer to his family and to pursue new challenges,” the statement said.
Masi was dismissed as race director after the controversial 2021 Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi. The FIA then announced that they wanted to offer Masi another job. Instead, the collaboration is now officially over.
