The traditional Italian racing team is presenting its racing car for the 2022 Formula 1 season. Team boss Mattia Binotto chooses big words – it’s also about the end of a dry spell.
The recently weakening traditional racing team Ferrari presented its new Formula 1 car with an elaborate online presentation – and wants to challenge Red Bull and Mercedes with the F1-75. As usual, the Scuderia’s racing car is kept in a traditional red, but also has distinctive black elements on the front and rear wings. The fairly flat air intakes and the pointed nose are also striking.
The car was designed with “courage and creativity”, said team boss Mattia Binotto (52) and should help the “fans to be proud again” of Ferrari. Because: Since Singapore 2019, the Italian luxury brand has been waiting for a victory in the premier class.
“This season will be very important for the team and for us drivers. Expectations are high,” said Charles Leclerc. The 24-year-old Monegasse called the design “impressive and extreme”, his teammate Carlos Sainz jr. (27) said: “It’s time we took the team to a new level. The car looks aggressive and radical.”
In 2021, Ferrari only finished third in the team classification, with the drivers only finishing fifth (Sainz) and seventh (Leclerc). As the last top team, Mercedes unveiled the new company car of the dethroned world champion Lewis Hamilton on Friday.
Formula 1 is changing its technical regulations for the 2022 season, the aerodynamic concept has been fundamentally simplified and standardized – in the hope of more excitement and entertainment on the track. In addition, instead of the previous 13-inch wheels, the cars now have significantly larger 18-inch wheels.
The season opener takes place on March 20th in Bahrain, the first test drives begin next Wednesday in Barcelona.
