Ferrari has signed Frédéric Vasseur as the new Formula 1 team boss. Vasseur comes from partner racing team Alfa Romeo and replaces Mattia Binotto at Scuderia.

Ferrari has signed Frédéric Vasseur as the new Formula 1 team boss. As the racing team announced on Tuesday (December 13, 2022), the 54-year-old Frenchman will replace Mattia Binotto, who left the Scuderia at the end of the season.

Vasseur from partner racing team Alfa Romeo

Vasseur switched to the Swiss Sauber racing team in mid-2017, which currently competes in Formula 1 under the name Alfa Romeo. The team works closely with Ferrari and, among other things, sources its engines from Scuderia.

Long Ferrari dry spell – also under Binotto

Vasseur is scheduled to take up his post at Ferrari on January 9th. He has been in motorsport for more than 25 years and has also been a team boss at Renault.

Ferrari has been waiting for a drivers’ world championship in Formula 1 since Kimi Räikkönen’s world title in 2007. Binotto was also unable to fulfill the hope placed in him and is leaving Ferrari at the end of the year. At the beginning of 2019 he became the team boss of the Scuderia.
