Formula 1: Ex-racing driver plans entry

Former racing driver Michael Andretti plans to enter Formula 1 with his own racing team in 2024. This was explained by his father Mario Andretti, world champion from 1978, on Twitter on Friday evening.

The American Michael Andretti, who wanted to take over the Alfa Romeo team last year, applied to the FIA, the world automobile association.

“Andretti Global has the necessary resources and meets all the criteria. He is now awaiting the decision of the FIA,” wrote Mario Andretti.

In the season that begins on March 20 in Bahrain, ten teams and a total of 20 racing cars will be on the grid. The last time eleven racing teams were represented in a Formula 1 season was in 2016.
