(Almost) all of the drivers’ questions have been clarified, but the change carousel in Formula 1 is still turning vigorously after the end of the season.
As the Dutch “Telegraaf” reports, series world champion Max Verstappen has to look for a new fitness coach. Accordingly, the collaboration with Bradley Scanes has ended.
The physiotherapist had been working with Verstappen since the beginning of 2020 and has been credited with a large share of the 26-year-old Formula 1 high-flyer’s three world championship titles since then.
Scanes is said to have asked Verstappen’s Red Bull team to leave on his own initiative. It is said that the Brit wants to concentrate on other work and see his family more regularly. The work of a Formula 1 physio also includes traveling to race tracks all over the world with the stars they are looking after.
Scanes’ successor has apparently already been found: According to journalist Chris Medland, Red Bull is using the (recently hopelessly inferior) competition from Ferrari. Carlos Sainz’s previous personal trainer Rupert Manwaring should therefore look after Verstappen in the future. The Spaniard, on the other hand, has to look for a new fitness coach.
Formula 1: Coach change not only for Max Verstappen
Verstappen will complete a few mandatory PR appointments in December. Preparations for the mammoth 2024 season with 24 races will begin shortly.
The test drives will take place in Bahrain at the end of February. The first Grand Prix of the new year will take place at the same location on March 2nd.
There was a coaching change in Formula 1 after the end of the past season not only at Red Bull and Verstappen, but also in the junior team AlphaTauri.
According to Medland, Michael Italiano is no longer responsible for Yuki Tsunoda and is leaving the premier class of motorsport. It is not yet known who will look after the 23-year-old Japanese in terms of physiotherapy and fitness in the future.
