Formula 1 boss opens door for new team

Former Formula 1 World Champion Mario Andretti has been trying for a long time to break into the pinnacle of motorsport with his own racing team. It is quite possible that the 82-year-old will have success in the near future. Because Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali has now announced that the racing series is “ready” for negotiations about the entry of other racing teams.

For more than five years, only 20 drivers, divided into ten teams, have been circling the Formula 1 racetracks of this planet. Manor Racing and Caterham, among others, had retired in previous years. With the US racing team Haas, only one new team has been added since 2016, so that the number of cars at the Grands Prix has remained unchanged for half a decade.

But with the entry plans of former F1 driver Mario Andretti and the general rise in popularity of Formula 1, the number of participants could change in the future, as Formula 1 Managing Director Stefano Domenicali has now revealed.

Together with the world automotive association FIA, the Italian wants to investigate the possibility of another team joining. “I think the first thing we have to consider is whether a new team would add value to the championship,” Domenicali said, referring to the skeptics who are worried about prize money being added to more/extra at the end of the year Heads would have to be divided and would thus be reduced overall.

If, as a result of the considerations, it turns out that there is actually an additional value, “we will of course discuss the possibility internally and see whether there is a potential newcomer that will take Formula 1 to an even higher level,” said the 57- years further.

Will Andretti Autosport be the eleventh team in Formula 1?

With reference to the Concorde Agreement, Domenicali emphasized that everything would be done to ensure that a new team would not bring any financial disadvantages to the existing racing teams.

However, the Formula 1 boss himself sees “no problem” in putting one more team on the track in order to have better races. “We will see and monitor the situation,” said Domenicali. He is “ready” for discussions and negotiations with new teams. But: “We’re not in a hurry because of that.”

Andretti and his Andretti Autosport racing team for the US Grand Prix said on “Sky Sport” that he “worked every day” to get into Formula 1.

“The goal is clear and strong and real. We’re trying to [die Kriterien] to fulfill, we go through the protocol.” 2024 should be the latest. “You would be surprised how much we have to do,” said the 82-year-old meaningfully.
