Aston Martin has confirmed that the Asturian will be the only one who will drive the AMR23 this Friday
The Spaniard, who shared the track with Drugovich, got the second best time on Thursday
The Asturian Fernando Alonso will jump alone this Friday to the track of the Sakhir circuit, in Bahrain, to complete the first tests of the new Formula 1 season, as confirmed by Aston Martin in a statement on their social networks.
With Lance Stroll out of the game after the accident suffered while training on a bicycle, Aston Martin placed Felipe Drugovich, its reserve driver, as the Oviedo teammate for Thursday’s session. But an electrical failure hindered the options of the young Brazilian, who will not be on the track on the second day.

It will be Alonso who will fall on all the work of the team, in the more than eight hours of session that awaits the drivers. The Asturian, on his first day ‘seriously’ aboard the AMR23 -with a Mercedes engine- scored second fastest time and he was only three hundredths off the best time of the day, set by Max Verstappen. It will be tomorrow when the team chooses its driver for Saturday’s day.
