Formula 1 also in 2024 and 2025 in Zandvoort

Formula 1 will also come to Zandvoort in 2024 and 2025. The Dutch Grand Prix has today extended its contract with FOM, the organizer of Formula 1, for two years. Sports director Jan Lammers announced this this morning.

After the success of the past two years and the upcoming sold-out edition of 2023, the organization is happy that there will be at least another two years. “Now we can start working on the future, so that’s fantastic,” says Jan Lammers on NH Radio. “And then with two Dutchmen in Formula 1.” He is referring to Max Verstappen and Nyck de Vries.

Lammers is pleased that plans can now be made for the long term. “Now we can invest here and there where necessary. If you don’t know if you have those two years, that is of course a bit more difficult.”

Circuit

Formula 1 does not have a reputation for being very sustainable. Now that there is more time, the circuit is also becoming more sustainable, according to Lammers. He says the circuit in Zandvoort, along with Canada’s, is the most sustainable on the F1 calendar. “I think that’s one of the reasons why we can win such a battle. The competition between the promoters around the world, of course, is huge.”

So it was not yet a race to get Formula 1 back to Zandvoort. “At the moment you can organize thirty grand prixes if you want,” says Lammers about the enormous range of circuits. “Just compete with that. That was quite a job, but we got out.”

The organization also announces that the fans who have been drawn for the Dutch Grand Prix 2023 will be the first to get the chance to purchase tickets for the Grand Prix of 2024 before they go on sale for the other interested parties.
