Laura Dahlmeier had a fatal accident a few months ago. The biathlon world was in shock, as was Lisa Theresa Hauser. She knew the German well.

The Austrian Lisa Theresa Hauser is already looking forward to the coming biathlon season. However, the 31-year-old still has to be patient until it starts. Because while the ski racers have already completed the first World Cup race, things won’t start at the shooting range and on the cross-country ski trail until November 29th.

In an interview with the “Kronen Zeitung”, Hauser not only spoke about her preparation for the season, but also about her good friend Laura Dahlmeier, who had an accident in July. “I got to know Laura very early in my biathlon career because we were of the same age group and had traveled internationally together a lot back then. And we also came to the World Cup together at the same time,” said Hauser.

Then the former 2021 world champion said: “She celebrated a great career as a biathlete and lived her life and was now able to live it out again in the mountains. And I think that was her big dream. Even if it has now come to such a tragic end. I think she lived her dream.”

Hauser said with a view to the coming winter: “It’s just before the start of the season. The anticipation is great. My preparation was quite good. I’m satisfied and have a good feeling about the winter.”

This also includes the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo next February. The biathletes will be competing in Antholz. Another reason for Hauser to be happy: “It’s definitely a highlight, but I want to do good races in December and January before that.”
