Former World Champion James Wade eliminated at European Championships

The failure of the favorites continues at the Darts European Championship in Dortmund. Former European champion James Wade lost 7:10 to Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode in the round of 16, making him the fourth top ten player to drop out early.

Wade defeated defending champion Rob Cross in round one. The two former world champions Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen have already been eliminated, as have the German representatives Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens.

Schindler lost 6-1 in the first round to the Portuguese José de Sousa on Friday evening, while Clemens lost 6-4 to world-class professional Jonny Clayton from Wales.

The four-day tournament in the Westfalenhalle ends on Sunday with the quarter-finals in the afternoon and the semi-finals and final in the evening.
