Danny Schenkel is the new head coach of Jong Almere City. The 45-year-old from Amsterdam has signed a contract for one season in Flevoland.
Jong Almere City will be active in the second division this season. The team from Flevoland became champion of the U23 competition and thus takes over the place of the relegated Jong FC Volendam. Schenkel in turn comes over from the Under 18 of Sparta Rotterdam.
In the past, Schenkel played more than a hundred matches for Telstar. In addition, he also wore the shirt of Sparta Rotterdam, Willem II and the Cypriot AEK Larnaca. Schenkel started his coaching career in 2019. In that year he coached the Ajax Women. Until 2022 he worked in Amsterdam and managed to seize the KNVB Cup during this period.
Schenkel is looking forward to the next step in his coaching career. “Almere is a city that is thriving and growing at full speed and the same applies to Almere City FC. The opportunity to lead the Young team in the Jack’s League here is unique and I am happy to grab that opportunity with both hands .”
