In its provisional conclusions, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office requested 70 years in prison for the former president of Bankia for defrauding more than 8.5 million euros
The trial against the former vice president of the Government Rodrigo Rato for alleged crimes against the Public Treasury, money laundering and corruption in business in the framework of the case on the alleged illicit origin of his assets will begin on December 12, according to a procedure of organization of September 20, to which THE SPAIN NEWSPAPER, from the Prensa Ibérica group. The interrogations of the accused will begin on January 9.

Also, the trial court number 31 of Madrid also prosecuted the former president of Caja Madrid, the former secretary of State José Manuel Fernández Norniella and others 13 people for the contracts signed by Bankia between 2011 and 2012 with the companies Publicis and Zenith Media, in which a total commission of 2.02 million euros.
The magistrate who investigated the case, Manuel Serrano-Arnal, considers that both companies paid the bribe to the company Albisa Inversiones y Asesoramiento controlled by Alberto Portuondo. The latter would have transferred another 835,024 euros to the company Kranodara 2001 SL, controlled by Rato.. For his part, the manager of the former vice president’s companies, Miguel Ángel Montero Quevedo, received 189,704 euros from Albisa through the Montelayos company.
