Former US President in court: Trump could lose these properties

Donald Trump has been civilly charged with fraud. A judge found the former US president guilty of fraud, which has consequences for numerous Trump properties.

Civil suit for fraud

New York State Attorney General Letitia James sued Trump as well as the entire Trump Organization, his business partners and his sons. The civil lawsuit accuses former US President Donald Trump of fraud. The indictment alleges that Trump made hundreds of false statements in order to more fully represent the assets of the Trump Organization in order to increase its net worth and obtain more favorable business deals. James estimates that he has falsified his net worth by around $3.6 billion. He is said to have achieved this enormous sum by stating the value of his properties such as Trump Tower or Mar-A-Lago to be much higher. Especially in the case of Mar-A-Lago, he is said to have only listed the property as a private residence and not as a social club, as Forbes reports.

The process has been underway since 2019 and has now achieved initial success, as the Swiss portal Watson reports. Judge Arthur Engoron decided in court to find Trump guilty of fraud. Since this is only a civil law procedure, a prison sentence is excluded. In return, Judge Engoron ordered that some of Trump’s companies and buildings in New York should not remain under his control. A bitter setback for the real estate mogul. Some of these properties are presented below.

Trump Tower

Completed in 1983, the Trump Tower rises 202 meters high. The facade of the imposing building is made of glass and was built according to plans by the architect Der Scutt. In addition to offices, restaurants and boutiques, there are also apartments in the well-known skyscraper. Located in the middle of Manhattan and a stone’s throw from Central Park, Trump Tower is probably the most impressive property in Trump’s repertoire. The skyscraper has also become a real symbol of his politics, after all, his 2016 election campaign was mainly conducted in Trump Tower.

Mar-A-Lago

The luxurious Spanish-style estate was built in 1927 by General Foods owner Marjorie Merriweather Post in Palm Beach, Florida. The building has been owned by the former US president since 1985 and served as one of his residences from 2017 to 2021. But this Trump property was also heavily involved in his political career, as it was often referred to as the “Winter White House”.

40 Wall Street

The skyscraper, which has been known as The Trump Building since 1996, is also located in Manhattan. Erected in 1930, the building designed by architect H. Craig Severance rises around 283 meters high. The location in New York’s financial district makes the importance of the property clear. 40 Wall Street represents the ambitions of the 20th century and the gigantic influence of the financial world.

Trump National Golf Club Westchester

With 18 holes, the private golf club in Westchester is quite large. Trump acquired the property in 1996 and, as president of Trump National Golf Club LLC, he managed the golf club until his inauguration. The golf course was designed by the well-known architect Jim Fazio.
