Freelancer Elias Theodorou has died at the age of 34, reports among other things MMAJunkie News Site mixed TSN.

Theodorou had liver cancer, which he had only told a few people about. He had not revealed his illness to the public at any point.

Theodorou was last in the ring in December when he fought Bryan Baker against. Theodorou fought his last three professional fights outside the UFC.

According to TSN, Theodorou was the first professional athlete to receive a medical cannabis exemption in North America. He got his license in January 2020.

Theodorou fought in the UFC 11 times between 2014 and 2019. His UFC record was eight wins and three losses. Theodorou was released from the UFC in 2019 after losing To Derek Brunson.

UFC boss Dana White said at the time that the reason for the release was that Theodorou was not believed to develop into a top contender.

Theodorou fought a total of 22 times as a professional, of which he won 19.

In the last years of his career, he spoke openly in favor of the use of medicinal cannabis.
