Marcel Bout retires after eight years as a scout at Manchester United. The 59-year-old Haarlemmer has to leave the English top club, where Erik ten Hag will most likely become a trainer.
Louis van Gaal took Bout to Manchester United in 2014. After the World Cup with the Orange, Van Gaal left for England. However, it was not a successful marriage with the trainer, after which the Amsterdammer was fired after two years. Bout did stay with Manchester United.
Like lead scout Jim Lawlor, Bout now has to leave the record champion of England. The two have been criticized at the club lately, because United spent a lot of money on transfers and the success was not forthcoming. “We would like to thank Jim and Marcel for their important contribution. We wish them all the best for the future,” said Manchester United in a statement.
Bout took over from Edward Metgod in 2010 after his resignation from Telstar. Bout previously worked as an assistant coach at FC Volendam. He also worked for AZ, Feyenoord and Bayern Munich.
