Vitesse striker Thomas Buitink made his debut with national coach Erwin van de Looi. This was at the expense of the starting position of Daishawn Redanwho was allowed to start last Friday against Bulgaria (0-0)† Both teams gave each other in the opening phase in De Adelaarshorst no flinch and opportunities were therefore few. Only at the end of the first company did the Dutch Juniors really come out dangerous for the first time.

First chances

Jurgen Ekkelenkamp had a wonderful pass in the fortieth minute to put Kenneth Taylor in front of the keeper. Taylor’s effort, however, went straight for the Swiss goalkeeper. Not much later, a goal by debutant Buitink was rightly disallowed due to offside and so both teams went into the changing rooms before half time without scoring.

second yellow

After a strong start in the second half, the Dutch Juniors had to deal with a major setback after almost an hour of play. Central defender Wouter Burger received his second yellow card after a foul around the halfway line and the Swiss seemed to be helped in a saddle.

Despite the under-count situation, the Dutch Juniors remained a lot stronger and that also paid off in the opening goal. Tavsan, who had just come in, shot in the 1-0 and moments later he was also good for the second Dutch goal.
