Former talent from Borussia Dortmund probably on the way to Serie A

Faroukou Cissé was considered a great defensive talent at Borussia Dortmund and even led BVB’s U19 selection as captain last season. After he was denied the leap into the professional squad of the German runners-up, he has now apparently found a new club.

After five years at BVB, where he went through all the stages from the C youth to the A youth, the central defender is now drawn to Italy to the first division club FC Genoa.

At least that’s what the Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday evening.

The Serie A club can still sign the 19-year-old after the transfer window closed last Friday as Cissé has been without a club since the summer.

In the BVB U19 team, he was a regular defensive player last season. The Black and Yellows made a total of 32 competitive appearances in 2022/2023, including nine games in the UEFA Youth League.

Cissé played for German U national teams

According to the media report, Cissé is already in Italy and is practically in agreement with FC Genoa. The corresponding working paper is expected to be signed this week.

Cissé was born in Ivory Coast, but has played for German national youth teams since 2019. He played his last game for a DFB youth team in September 2021, when he played for the German U18 team.

FC Genoa started the Italian championship moderately and lost two of the first three matches. Last weekend the team of head coach and ex-national player Alberto Gilardino lost 1-0 at Torino FC.

For how many years the defensive talent would sign with the club from Liguria was not known until recently.
