The former Austrian national player and Bundesliga professional Christian Fuchs has ended his football career. He resigned at the age of 36.
“It’s been an incredible journey for my family and I,” he was quoted as saying in a statement from Major League Soccer’s Charlotte FC.
Fuchs moved to the United States from Leicester City in the summer of 2021. “I look back with a big smile on the special moments that I will cherish throughout my life,” he continued.
Fuchs played 78 international matches for Austria and was also captain of the national team. With Leicester City, he sensationally won the title in his first season in the 2016 Premiere League. Fuchs previously played for VfL Bochum, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and FC Schalke 04 in Germany.
