Today is All Souls’ Day, a Catholic tradition in which deceased persons are commemorated. The KRO-NCRV program Who do you light a candle for? This whole week reflects on people who are no longer with us. Tonight’s broadcast is, among other things, a tribute to weatherwoman Leidi van der Veen.
The Drenthe weather woman died last year at the age of 79. For 25 years, until 2017, she did the weather forecast for Radio and later TV Drenthe. In the report, husband Henk explains where Leidi’s passion for the weather came from. Daughters Carina and Bettina also talk about their mother. “I sincerely believe that she is up there and looks back on a beautiful life with love. And that she takes good care of us and watches over us,” said Carina.
Radio engineer Martin Fuller also talks about funny moments with Leidi on the radio. Fuller has been working at RTV Drenthe for over twenty years.
In addition to Leidi’s report, reports of other deceased persons can also be seen in Who do you light a candle for? The program is presented by Joris Linssen from the Roman Catholic cemetery in Zwolle.
Who do you light a candle for?can be seen tonight at 6.25 pm on NPO2.
