Former RTV Drenthe director/editor-in-chief Klaas Samplonius has passed away. This is reported by the Radio 1 program Met het Oog op Morgen. Samplonius led RTV Drenthe between 2007 and 2010.
“After a very turbulent phase in the history of the broadcaster, Klaas has brought peace back to the organization,” says current director/editor-in-chief of RTV Drenthe Dink Binnendijk. “That was his assignment and with his extensive broadcasting experience, both in journalistic practice and administratively, he fulfilled it more than excellently. After that, RTV Drenthe was able to develop into the broadcaster we are today.”
Samplonius started his career in 1965 at the Zwolsche Courant. From the 1970s he worked for radio. He was best known for his presentation of the program Met het Oog op Morgen and sports programs such as Langs de Lijn and Radio Tour de France.
Samplonius retired after his period at RTV Drenthe. On his departure he was made a knight in the Order of Orange Nassau.
“Klaas was a pleasant person with a good feeling for the region,” says Binnendijk. “And that, of course, fitted exactly with our broadcaster. Very sad that he passed away at a relatively young age. On behalf of our broadcaster, we wish his relatives all the strength and strength.”
Klaas Samplonius turned 75.
