Former referee Estrada Fernández denounces Rubiales for the alleged diversion of 1.9 million euros

Former referee Xavier Estrada Fernández has filed a complaint this Wednesday against the suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, for allegedly divert 1,921,280 million euros destined to salaries of referees.

The complaint before the Higher Sports Council (CSD), consulted by Europa Press, also accuses the general secretary of the RFEF, Andreu Camps; to the president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), Luis Medina Cantalejoand its predecessor, Carlos Velasco Carballowho was in charge until November 22, 2021.

In addition, Estrada Fernández, an arbitrator who also denounced the ‘Negreira’ case, has requested the adoption of “provisional measures” so that the defendants are suspended from their positions and functions.

“He wishes to reiterate, once again, his determined will to defend the sports integrity and transparency of football, in all its areas and manifestations,” the complaint added.

Rubiales has been suspended from his position after the forced kiss of the Spanish team player Jenni Hermoso at the 2023 World Cup awards ceremony and, after several people and institutions denounced it, the National Court Prosecutor’s Office opened investigative proceedings, understanding that it could constitute a crime of sexual assault.
