Former recycling park Handzame is now ‘Railway park’

When the recycling park in Handzame disappeared, the site was abandoned for a while. The municipality of Kortemark has now transformed it into a relaxation area. The Krekedal cycle path also passes there, connecting the park with the center of Handzame and Zarren.

A bicycle shed has been installed, picnic and seating benches, fit-o-meter equipment and a water playground. The Spoorpark is also a play zone for Chiro Spartak.

The construction of the park cost 322,000 euros. The municipality receives 42,000 euros of this in subsidies via Platteland Plus from the Vlaamse Land Maatschappij.
