Former PSV player Rob Landsbergen passed away – Omroep Brabant

Rob Landsbergen passed away at the age of 62. The former PSV player had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. He was put to a deep sleep on Wednesday. He passed away on Thursday.

Rob Landsbergen played for four Brabant clubs in his career: PSV, NAC, Helmond Sport and Willem II. He was active for six seasons at the Eindhoven club. After his football career, the striker became a trainer in amateur football and achieved success with the amateurs of PSV. He achieved promotion to the first division, among other things.

In 2019, the former football player was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Lately, he’s been in a lot of decline. Rob Landsbergen turned 62 years old.

‘Don’t meow and meow’
Landsbergen was born in Southern Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe) in Africa. He came to Helmond when he was ten. At the local amateur club MULO, the striker quickly came on the radar of PSV for which he was active for six seasons: from 1976 to 1984. In those six seasons he was loaned out to Willem II once (1980-1981).

The former football player was best known for his willpower and the statement ‘Don’t meow and miepen’. The statement characterized the football player Landsbergen.

The striker could also continue as a defender in an emergency. He did not win any prizes with the Eindhoven club. After a trip to Korea, Landsbergen returned to the Netherlands. He played football for 2.5 seasons for Helmond Sport and two seasons for NAC. After his second period in Helmond he continued with the amateurs.
