RB Leipzig did good business in the run-up to the Europa League match with Real Sociedad, next Thursday. FC Köln was defeated 3-1 and former PSV player Angeliño was important with a goal.
The first half was mediocre from both sides. Leipzig had one chance and FC Köln also shot on target once. But Christopher Nkunku’s attempt immediately hit the ropes: 1-0. After the break, the duel between the two middle drivers from the Bundesliga ignited. Dani Olmo doubled the lead and former PSV player Angeliño made the 3-0.
In stoppage time, Tim Lemperle made it 3-1 on a pass from former Heerenveen player Mark Uth. But Leipzig’s victory was no longer in danger. Domenico Tedesco’s team rose to place 4, Köln is seventh.
