Former professional Ben Tingen and his buddy Peter Müllenberg delivered a spectacular demonstration fight in De Bonte Wever in Assen.
That happened during the Drenthe Boksgala in front of about 1,100 spectators. As former sparring partners, Tingen and Müllenberg decided to step into the ring together one more time to promote the sport of boxing in the North. During the Drenthe Boxing Gala in Assen, a number of boxing talents from Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland also took action.
This also applies to Lucien van der Es (17) from Assen. The young boxer, nicknamed ‘The Matrix’, comes from the stables of Tingens Drentse Bokser Gym in Bovensmilde. He also won his sixth match and remains undefeated.
Olympics
Peter Müllenberg participated in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. After the demonstration party, he and Tingen fell into each other’s arms. Tingen wants to organize another Drenthe Boxing Gala next year. He retired as a competitive boxer last year.
