Boris Johnson will stand again in the next parliamentary election in the constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip, in north-west London. The local branch of the Conservative Party put forward the former British prime minister last night.
In the previous parliamentary election, in December 2019, Johnson had won in the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency by 7,000 votes. However, Labor’s good scores in the opinion polls could put that seat in jeopardy.
In recent weeks, reports have surfaced suggesting that Johnson would run in a different constituency. This was supposed to give him more certainty about winning a seat in parliament. The rumors were further fueled after British media reported that Johnson had bought a new home in Oxfordshire.
Boris Johnson and his supporters have always denied reports of a move to a ‘safe’ constituency. The next UK parliamentary election is due to take place in January 2025 at the latest.
