Former NOC*NSF chairman Mickey Huibregtsen passed away | Inland

Mickey Huibregtsen (82) passed away in his hometown of Bilthoven. His family reports this in an obituary in NRC. Huibregtsen became known as chairman of the Dutch Olympic Committee, which merged with the Dutch Sports Federation in 1993 to form the sports umbrella organization NOC*NSF.

In 1997 he missed the Dutch membership of the International Olympic Committee. That position went to (then) Prince Willem-Alexander. Huibregtsen resigned a year later.

During his working life, he held a management position at management consultant McKinsey. In 2002 he was also politically active for a short time with the List Pim Fortuyn (LPF), where he was briefly in the picture for a ministerial post. In the same year he and Pieter Winsemius founded De Publieke Zaak, a platform for critical discussion about the functioning of society, government and democracy.

Huibregtsen, who was called Mickey but was called Frederik Wouter, died on May 20. He was 82 years old.
