Former Nike Europe boss succeeds founder

The 11teamsports Group has appointed Ralf Fässler as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Fässler will succeed 11teamsports founder Oliver Schwerin on March 1st, the sporting goods retailer based in Satteldorf in Baden-Württemberg announced on Wednesday. Schwerin is moving from management to the board of directors, where he will focus on the “strategic further development of the company”.

“11teamsports has undergone incredible development in recent years. We are ready for the next steps in the growth process in order to further consolidate and expand our position as the leading team sports provider in Europe,” said Schwerin , as we have been pushing in the previous management team over the last few years, to the next level.”

As CEO of the group, Fässler will strengthen the associated online retailers Top4Running and 11teamsports and drive international expansion. He has 30 years of experience in the sporting goods industry. He was active at Nike for more than 23 years, most recently as General Manager EMEA Central. According to his Linkedin account, he left the US sporting goods manufacturer in April 2021 to become self-employed as a strategy and management consultant.

In addition to the new CEO, there was a change in management last month. CMO Dennis Schröde left the company “at his own request” at the end of February to pursue new challenges. 11teamsports did not announce a successor.
