Former news anchor Martine Tanghe passed away
Martin Tanghe, born in Bellem in East Flanders, grew up in Bissegem near Kortrijk. A few years ago she was diagnosed with cancer again and she eventually passed away at the age of 67.
Career
At the age of 23, Martine Tanghe was allowed to start at the public broadcaster on February 1. In the 1970s and 1980s there were no full-time news anchors yet: journalists then combined reporting work with presentations in the studio. Tanghe also made reports at home and abroad. Even later, Martine Tanghe is occasionally sent into the field. For example, she was a reporter on the spot during the train disaster in Pécrot on March 27, 2001. Nevertheless, throughout her 42-year career, Tanghe grew into one of the faces of “Het Journaal”.
