Former national coach Bert van Marwijk would take Joey Veerman to the World Cup in Qatar

Volendammer Joey Veerman has been doing excellent since his transfer from sc Heerenveen to PSV. So good that former national coach Bert van Marwijk would include the midfielder in the Orange selection that will play the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year. Tonight, Van Marwijk and former international Arnold Mühren will be a guest in our football talk show De Aftrap.

Mühren agrees with Van Marwijk, although he points to the cutthroat competition in the midfield at Orange. “Gravenberch and Wijnaldum are not among them now. It depends on how many midfielders you want to take with you,” said the 23-time international.

Van Marwijk thinks that Louis van Gaal could score very high with the Dutch national team in Qatar. A world title does not exclude the coach, who lost the final to Spain with the Orange at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
