According to consistent Turkish media reports, coach Moritz Volz is about to become involved with Galatasaray Istanbul. The former assistant coach of Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, where the duo worked together from 2019 to 2021, is to work alongside head coach Okan Buruk, who took over the post at the “Lions” in June.
Volz is expected in Istanbul on Monday to sign his working paper, reports, among other things, “NTV Sport“. Galatasaray started after a busy summer of transfers with 14 newcomers, some of them well-known, with five wins from the first nine games in the Süper Lig and is currently in 7th place in the very tight table.
Before his engagement in Leipzig, the 39-year-old German worked for four years as a scout for Arsenal FC, where he was a player from 1999 to the end of 2003. In Germany, Volz made 59 appearances in the second division and nine in the Bundesliga as a right-back for FC St. Pauli and 1860 Munich between 2010 and 2015.
