Former mayor Gerrit Hensens passed away last Saturday at the age of 92. He was mayor of the former municipality of Havelte for many years and lived there until his death.
Hensens was born in Winschoten and started working for the municipality of Ten Boer in the 1960s. In 1964 the PvdA politician became mayor of Nieuwschans. In 1970 Hensens moved to Drenthe. He was mayor in Havelte until the municipal reorganization in 1998.
On Saturday, the former mayor will be said goodbye in the Clemenskerk in Havelte.
