Former Hema boss Tjeerd Jegen becomes managing director

Tjeerd Jegen is the new managing director of the Telgte textile discounter Takko Fashion.

The former boss of Dutch retailer Hema will take up his new position on May 1, Takko announced on Wednesday. He takes over the management from Karl-Heinz Holland. The executive chairman has been running the business since the end of May after former managing director Markus Rech left the company after a few months.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to attract such an experienced CEO as Tjeerd Jegen for Takko Fashion,” said Holland.

New managing director comes from Hema

Jegen left Hema after the Dutch chain found new owners. He built Hema “to become the leading Dutch value retailer and played a key role in expanding the company’s international presence,” according to the press release. Before that, the 50-year-old worked for the Australian supermarket chain Woolworths and the British supermarket chain Tesco. There he worked, among other things, as COO in Thailand and CEO in Malaysia.

“I am convinced of Takko Fashion’s successful business model, which offers high-quality fashion at fair prices. In addition, I am absolutely delighted with the Takko team, which has mastered the past challenges, especially during the Corona pandemic, in an excellent way,” said Jegen.

The management of Takko now consists of CFO Kurt Rosen, COO Thomas Füllhaas, CPO Sebastian Weber and CEO Tjeerd Jegen. Holland will remain as Executive Chairman until May 1st and, after handing over to Jegen, will refocus on the role as Chairman of the Advisory Board.
