Former gendarme Robert Beijer landed in Belgium, court wants to question him about Gang van Nijvel | Interior

LOOK. Who is former gendarme Robert Beijer?

Investigating judge Martine Michel, who is charged with the investigation into the Gang, will question Beijer “in the coming days”. No date has yet been set for this.

Last month, Beijer was arrested in Thailand. In Beijer’s home, the Belgian court searched for elements that could link him to the Bende van Nijvel. The Thai authorities then arrested Beijer because he would not have complied with the laws on legal residence in the country.

According to lawyer Chomé, Beijer was detained for two weeks by the Thai immigration services. That blockade was unnecessarily stretched by the federal prosecutor’s office, according to Chomé. This initially prevented the issuing of a provisional passport needed to allow Beijer to return to Belgium, the lawyer regrets.
