Jonathan Schmid (33) has found a new employer after his contract was terminated at Austria Lustenau. The 299-time Bundesliga player, who played the most games in his career for SC Freiburg, is moving to the Luxembourg first division club Progrès Niederkorn. The club – multiple champions and cup winners – is currently in fourth place in the BGL Ligue.

Schmid’s contract, which originally ran until the end of the season, was terminated at the beginning of the year. The 33-year-old only moved to Vorarlberg in September after the transfer closed, but he was unable to assert himself there. In total, the winger played nine games in the Austrian Bundesliga and two cup games for the Ländleklub, mostly as a substitute.
