“Do everything possible” for change
Arturo Vidal (34) dreams of returning to South America. As the Inter Milan pro explained in an interview with “TNT Sports‘ revealed, ‘the chapter in Europe could be closed’. The midfielder would be available on a free transfer next summer as his contract expires. The contract includes an option for a further year. Vidal, who came to Milan from FC Barcelona for free in 2020, has one club in mind when he imagines a move to South America: Flamengo.

“I have a dream to play there, I can’t deny it. (…) If the coach or those in charge want me and there is an offer, then I will do everything possible to get there,” said Vidal, who obtained information about the club from his old companions Rafinha (36), Renato Augusto (34) and Mauricio Isla (33) caught up. The latter is currently active for Flamengo and would be in the situation that Vidal “would like to live in”.
The Chilean international is currently a wild card at Inter and has made 32 appearances (two goals/four assists) in all competitions this season, in which he has played 1,122 minutes. “I don’t know if it’s time,” Vidal said of a move to the Brazilian club, “but when it happens my goal is very clear: to win everything with Flamengo and fight for the Copa Libertadores. It’s a dream because it’s like the Champions League in Europe.” Vidal has six games in the Copa Libertadores on his CV, which he collected as a young professional from Colo Colo – his only stop in South America to date.
The midfielder left the Chilean club in 2007 for Bayer 04, before stints at Juventus Turin, FC Bayern, Barcelona and Milan followed. His transfer earnings amount to around 75 million euros, which surpasses eleven players in his position in football history.
