Former Emmen councilor Ineke Hoogland-Foppen has passed away. The PvdA politician was alderman for spatial planning for ten years. In 2006 she said goodbye to municipal politics with a silver medal of honor.
Hoogland was born in Arnhem but later moved to Southeast Drenthe, where she lived in Klazienaveen. In 1982 she made her first attempt at council membership. She was immediately elected, started as a councilor in 1996 and held that position for ten years.
After her retirement as municipal manager, Hoogland remained active as a volunteer. She spent time at Museum Collectie Brands in Nieuw-Dordrecht. At her own request, her farewell meeting will be held in this heritage center.
Ineke Hoogland-Foppen died last Friday. She was 76 years old.
