The 68-year-old Willy B. from The Hague, as the former director of the care farm De Vier Linden in Papenvoort, has to appear in court in Groningen today for exploiting a client. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), B. forced the resident to do heavy work and also had to help with SM practices in the basement of the care farm.
From July 2012, the client lived with her partner in the care institution in Papenvoort for two years. The woman suffers from an illness that has affected her eyesight and hearing. She was dependent on her healthcare provider, who collected 7,000 euros a month in healthcare budget for care provision to the woman. In practice, little would have come of this. The woman did not receive the appropriate care, but worked long hours with jobs that were too heavy for her.
Despite her physical limitations, the woman said she also had to care for and guide the vulnerable children within the institution. And she was forced to help in B’s SM basement. The resident finally filed a report in 2014. The Public Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute Willy B. because of insufficient evidence. The complainant went to the court in Leeuwarden and filed a complaint.
In October 2020, the court decided that the Public Prosecution Service should still prosecute. The fact that the case is submitted to the court almost two years later is partly due to the complexity of the case and the investigation wishes of the defense such as hearing witnesses. Willy B. denies all allegations. The care farm De Vier Linden is now closed. The court will take all day to hear this case.
