Former deputy Vedelaar nominated as director of the GGD

Former deputy Nelleke Vedelaar should become the new Director of Public Health of GGD Drenthe. She has been nominated to succeed interim director Ferdinand Strijthagen. Only the general board of the GGD still has to vote on this.

Vedelaar was deputy for the PvdA in Drenthe between 2021 and 2023. Before that, she was chairman of this party for four years. She is happy with the nomination: “I am very much looking forward to working together with the people of the GGD and making a meaningful contribution to health and thus broad prosperity in Drenthe.”

The executive board of GGD Drenthe is satisfied with the choice of Vedelaar. Raymond Wanders, chairman of GGD Drenthe and councilor of the municipality of Emmen: “There is still a lot of work to be done in health promotion in Drenthe. A lot of work is being done on the movement from care to health and the GGD is an important partner and advisor in this. That is why I am pleased that we have found a good candidate in Nelleke for the position of Director of Public Health. I am convinced that with her extensive experience she can make a valuable contribution to the organization, the transition from care to health and to the further development of a healthy and vital future for all residents of Drenthe and look forward to the collaboration.”
