From now on, young talent at FC Bayern will be given greater support again. Heiko Vogel, former Munich junior coach, welcomes the plans and at the same time recalls the unsatisfactory conditions in the past.
With Frans Krätzig and Aleksandar Pavlovic, two talents from our own stable have made the leap into FC Bayern’s professional squad in the last few months.
In the opinion of Heiko Vogel, who worked in the youth sector of the German industry leader from 1998 to 2007 and 2013 to 2017, the development of the FC Bayern Campus played a decisive role in the first visible successes.
“The facility on Säbener Strasse no longer met the needs of professionals, youth and women. In this respect, there was no alternative to building the campus. […] I believe that something good has come about,” explained the 48-year-old in an interview with “Spox”.
In general, the consistent promotion of young players at FC Bayern is now being given “significantly more importance,” noted Vogel.
“Before we worked so successfully back then, none of the bosses were interested in the youth,” the trainer looked back critically. A very spicy accusation against the club.
FC Bayern: Vogel with special praise for Pavlovic and friend
Vogel still has his sights set on FC Bayern, even years after his departure. He is pleased with the recent progress in integrating talent.
“From a coaching perspective, I really like Pavlovic. I see an incredibly intelligent player. He always knows exactly which side and how to take the ball and how to continue playing it,” the former coach praised the shooting star.
Vogel is also convinced that the new sports director Christoph Freund will be of enormous help to FC Bayern in implementing its ideas.
“He is a top person and professional. Together with Ralf Rangnick, he played a decisive role in shaping the RB philosophy. In Salzburg he made good and courageous decisions as a player and as a coach,” emphasized Vogel.
