Former care farm in Assen becomes crisis emergency shelter

The municipality of Assen is making fifty crisis emergency shelters available at the Graswijk in Assen. The fifty asylum seekers will be able to live in a farmhouse from the beginning of October for a maximum period of three months. The shelter is used as an overflow for the application center in Ter Apel.

The farmhouse was previously a location for sheltered housing of CURA XL. The farmhouse was recently released and can be used as a reception location without modifications. The municipality of Assen can choose to keep the location open longer after December, if necessary.

Municipalities of Drenthe must jointly realize 450 places for crisis relief. Assen is responsible for fifty places of this. Yesterday it was announced that the municipality of Aa en Hunze will also realize fifty emergency shelters in Gieten. Fifty places will also become available in Aalden.
