Former BVB star shoots AC Milan to the top

AC Milan took advantage of city rivals Inter’s mistake in the Italian football league and took the lead in Serie A. An ex-BVB star made the perfect jump to first place.

The team around national player Malick Thiaw won 1-0 (0-0) against newly promoted CFC Genoa on Saturday and pushed the Champions League finalists into second place.

In a wild final phase, former BVB star Christian Pulisic (87th) secured the Milan team their fourth win in a row. Afterwards, AC goalkeeper Mike Maignan was shown a red card after a foul (90+8), shortly afterwards Genoa keeper Josep Martinez also had to leave the field with a yellow-red card (90+13).

Inter had previously lost a two-goal lead in a 2-2 (2-1) draw against FC Bologna. At first it looked like a clear affair after early goals from Francesco Acerbi (11th) and world champion Lautaro Martinez (13th). But Bologna hit back with Riccardo Orsolini (19th, penalty kick) and former Bayern striker Joshua Zirkzee (52nd).
