The Jupiler Pro League club just finished 15th in the table last season. relegation, but did not extend the expiring contract with coach Edward Still. After Bernd Storck (2022), Stefan Krämer (2021-22) and Wolfgang Frank (2011-12), Kohfeldt is the fourth German coach at KAS.

At the end of February, Kohfeldt spoke for the first time after leaving VfL and described it as “totally surprising”. In 28 games he averaged 1.14 points per game, at Werder it was an average of 1.34 points in 142 games between 2017 and 2021. At the time, he said about the requirements of a possible new club: “I can work best if everyone involved is committed to speed and combination football. In addition to success, the focus should be on developing young players. And I want to have a productive effect on the atmosphere between the team, staff and the whole club. The pros don’t form an island, they have to be part of the club and have an impact on its culture.”
