It came as a big surprise when Immanuel Pherai made the transition from youth from AZ to Borussia Dortmund at the age of 16. A real breakthrough at the German top club turned out to be too ambitious, so Pherai is now making a transfer to Eintracht Braunschweig.
Pherai was snatched from AZ by Borussia Dortmund in 2017. In the following seasons, the midfielder mainly played his matches for the second team, which plays in the Third Bundesliga.
“I’m looking forward to playing at Eintracht Braunschweig for the next two years,” Pherai said on the website of the club who was promoted last season. “The Second Bundesliga will be a great experience and I want to do everything I can to achieve our goals with the team. I learned a lot at Borussia Dortmund and I want to thank them for the past period.”
He made his debut for Borussia Dortmund last season. In the penultimate round of play, he came on in extra time against Greuther Fürth. As a result, his playing time was limited to just one minute in the main squad. In the 2020/2021 season, Pherai played on a rental basis for PEC Zwolle.
