Ski jumper Katharina Althaus celebrates her first podium finish of the winter in Wisla, Poland. Only an Austrian was better.

After the German ski jumpers flew behind the competition at the start of the season on Saturday (November 5th, 2022), things went much better in the second competition of the weekend, and not just for Katharina Althaus.

After the disappointing 21st place the day before, Althaus was able to call up their potential again on the Adam-Malysz-Schanze on Sunday. The 26-year-old announced her ambitions for a podium place in the first round with 123 meters in sixth place. A jump of 131 meters made the second place perfect in the final behind the Austrian Eva Pinkelnig. Nika Kriznar from Slovenia was third.

Friday can follow suit in the final

Selina Freitag, Richard Freitag’s 21-year-old sister, was 19th the day before, the best place in the DSV team. After initially only 108 meters, she was able to improve significantly on the second jump. With 124.5 meters she flew back to 19th place.

Solid performance of the DSV jumpers

Solid jumps also showed the DSV quartet around Agnes Reisch, who still showed a good performance in 20th place. Luisa Görlich was 22nd ahead of her teammate Anna Rupprecht.

Pauline Hessler rounded off the pleasing result as 27th. The 24-year-old managed to score the first World Cup points of the winter this time.

After the start of the World Cup, the ski jumpers have their next chance in the second individual competition in Wisla – the second full-length round.
