The Washington Post, Financial Times, Dow Jones, The Economist and other foreign publications have removed paid access to a number of materials for readers from Ukraine and Russia, transmits edition of Digiday.

This applies to materials about the military operation in Ukraine.

“Part of our mission and goal is to ensure that people have access to outstanding journalism during challenging and difficult times, so making it free is an easy decision. Despite the fact that we will not be paid, we think it is good for our journalism,” said Financial Times commercial director John Slade.

A spokesman for The Washington Post indicated that providing free access to the publication affects a small segment of the publication’s international subscribers, but did not name a specific number.

Paywalls have been canceled for The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch and Financial News in Ukraine, as well as in neighboring countries where there is a large influx of Ukrainian refugees, according to a Dow Jones spokesperson.
