Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff had feared that his top driver would fail for the upcoming race in Montréal, but now the Briton has reacted – with an announcement.
After his painful race in Baku, Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton has cautiously given the all-clear. “The back is a bit sore and bruised, but fortunately nothing serious,” wrote the Mercedes driver on Instagram on Monday. He slept poorly the night after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and was treated with physiotherapy and acupuncture, the 37-year-old added.
Hamilton ruled out not starting in Canada on Sunday: “I’ll be there this weekend, I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.”
“It looks bad and feels 100 times worse”
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff had previously said that it was “definitely” possible that the record champion could take a mandatory break in Montreal. Caused by his strongly bouncing Mercedes, Hamilton not only has muscular problems from the constant blows he is currently exposed to in the cockpit. “It goes really deep on the spine and that has consequences,” explained Wolff.
