Andras Schäfer (23) was very happy about the point against Hansi’s boys in the Nations League. But he suffered from not having played.

Bad luck. Ironically, in the Nations League against Germany (1: 1), Union’s Hungarian national player Andras Schäfer had to watch.

The Unioner is still angry because of what he believes to be an unjustified warning against Italy (1: 2), he says: “I had played the ball away. Only then did the opponent fall.” In the Nations League, however, a suspension comes after two yellow cards.

But Schäfer sang the anthem with fervor on Saturday in the stands. He gave autographs to fans. After the game he was back on the pitch for the Hungarians’ lap of honour.

Schäfer: “It was a really good performance by the team. I’m proud of the squad. We were much more dangerous than Germany, we played with heart and defended very well. Watching that game from the stands was like a heart attack.”

Schäfer was very happy about the point. But: “Not being able to play in a game like this is a really bad feeling.”

Now he wants to play again in England on Tuesday (8:45 p.m.). Then it goes on vacation until June 27th.
