In the shadow of Jamsugyo Bridge
For his first show dedicated to the Pre-Fall collection, the artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière has chosen a spectacular location: the Jamsugyo submersible bridge, which connects Gangnam and Gangbuk. The striking two-story structure spanning the Hangang River lit up in the colors of South Korea’s banderia, setting the scene for a fashion show for the first time. An unprecedented scenographic setting which confirms, on the one hand, Louis Vuitton’s unique ability to establish a dialogue with architecture and design, while, on the other, enhancing the beauty and culture of South Korea. For an event of such importance, reiterating the collaborative spirit dear to Ghesquière, the French fashion house has entrusted itself to an exceptional creative consultant: the acclaimed film director Hwang Dong-H-Heilknown worldwide for the Netflix series Squid Game.

The Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2023 show
The show, broadcast live on the maison’s social channels and on numerous screens around Seoul, saw the arrival of 1,600 guests, including 100 fashion students from the country. The actress and model could not be missing HoYeon Jungface of the maison since 2021, to open the fashion show, closed instead by Sora Choi, Korean top model among the most requested of the moment. All the souls of the Louis Vuitton woman paraded on the kilometer-long catwalk: biker, romantic, inspired by the Sixties, in a triumph of contrasting yet harmonious materials and textures. Flared leather miniskirts, biker jackets, inspired jumpsuits racing they meet fitted bodysuits decorated with the iconic monogram, tailored suits with fitted blazers, pinstriped trousers that are anything but traditional.
There was no shortage of light and impalpable maxi dresses, pleated or with flounces, often hidden under long high-necked waistcoats. The highlights of the collection are the suits with extra long shirts and trousers, elevated by geometric textures and glittering inserts, almost a synthesis between East and West. In perfect Ghesquière style we saw diamond, chess and striped patterns, ranging from the classic black and white in bolder shades.
Future must-haves
It wouldn’t be a true Louis Vuitton show without it accessories already candidates to become objects of desire. Between bags stand out rigid cases and bag by hand with a padded effect, in a color palette that ranges from blue to red to warm yellow. Also not missing is the leather backpack with the iconic monogram. For the shoes the keyword is platform, therefore absolute comfort and a certain contemporary glamour, proposed on sneakers, Chelsea boots and vaguely punk sandals. However, the accessory of the season is the beltboth “high”, closed by a metal snap hook, and thinner and accompanied by a very long charms with flowers. Like a jewel to bring to life.
Finally, to complete the outfits, sunglasses in version cat eyefor Parisian globetrotters, or with a futuristic appeal, fresh out of Blade Runner.
