For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic, not a single corona patient on the ICU

No one is infected with the corona virus in the intensive care units of Dutch hospitals. This is the first time since February 2020, when the virus appeared in our country.

In the past 24 hours, the last two corona patients have left intensive care. It is not yet clear whether they have since been refurbished or whether they have died.

Incidentally, the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS) emphasizes that this is a snapshot. The figures are determined daily. A corona patient may still be taken from a nursing ward to the ICU later in the day.

Occupancy has increased slightly in that nursing ward in recent times. This is probably due to the emergence of a new variant of the virus. At the beginning of this month, there were about 40 corona patients in the nursing wards, now there are more than 70.

At the peak of the pandemic, during the first wave in April 2020, more than 1400 corona patients were in intensive care.
